Coffee community programme reviews work to prevent child labour
Vinh Hiep participated in a programme with Rainforest Alliance and partners to raise awareness of child labour risks in Vietnam’s coffee sector during 2022–2024. Activities combined communication, training and support for children and households in coffee-growing communities.
Awareness starts in the community
The programme worked with growers and local participants to improve understanding of children’s needs and the risks associated with inappropriate work. Training and community discussions provided opportunities to bring these issues into the everyday context of coffee production.

Children’s clubs were among the activities described in the programme. They created spaces for participation and communication alongside work with adults responsible for children’s care and education.
Supporting education and participation
Scholarships and support with transport were also included in the reported activities. These measures addressed practical difficulties that can affect children’s access to school and their ability to take part in community life.
The work brought together Rainforest Alliance and partner organisations, including businesses connected with the coffee supply chain. Vinh Hiep’s involvement reflects the role that coffee enterprises can play alongside families, schools and local organisations.

Continuing the work with growers
Preventing child labour risks requires continued attention, communication and a way for concerns to be identified and addressed. A programme review provides an opportunity to discuss activities and lessons; it does not replace ongoing work in individual communities.
Vinh Hiep thanks the partners, growers and local participants who contributed to the 2022–2024 programme. Their cooperation supports a shared effort to connect coffee livelihoods with children’s wellbeing and education.
